The tweet acknowledges Chinese scientists for openness in getting these data out. Our goal is to put the sequence into public health context re. potential source of the virus. The figure is a phylogeny generated by @EcoHealthNYC using other published data... hence the logo

Can you like use their names instead of calling them “Chinese scientists”? And maybe point to the virological post where the data cane from? And maybe put this in the image above that is being blasted all over your websites?

Still looks to me like EcoHealth is taking a lot of credit for this. I’m honestly not trying to be a jerk here. If we want open data sharing during outbreaks, we have to do better.pic.twitter.com/EeQia7aDqT

I do appreciate your comments and our intention is simply to do a rapid phylogenetic analysis so we can all understand better what the context of this novel CoV is rather than just raw sequence data...

..the website only gives credit to EHA for the phylogeny and
@nycbat has posted full details of the source of the sequence. I do think getting the phylogeny out rapidly is useful because...2 antwoorden 0 retweets 0 vind-ik-leuks -

The phylogeny also strongly suggests bats as a likely reservoir and that has immediate public health value.

The tree is very helpful, I’ll give y’all that. Thank you. It’s the effort to make sure that the analysis gives you all credit, not the consortium led by Professor Yong-Zhen Zhang, is the issue. Add it to your figure and legend, take your logo off it, and we are all good.

I appreciate your positive comment and you should know that the source data are cited in the post. We’ll have to agree to disagree re. giving credit to EcoHealth for a phylogeny that they produced - that seems fair to me.

The fact that you don’t see anything wrong with this is concerning. Sure, I agree to disagree.

Peter, the fact that you can't see this is wrong is deeply concerning because this is the exact reason people don't share data early. You know how easy it is to create an ML tree? You know we all immediately did? Yet we didn't hype it uncredited on Twitter and certainly not this:pic.twitter.com/UndIVH0ZMJ
