With the amazing advances in #antibody technology, is there a platform where clinical grade neutralizing antibody to an emerging lethal viral infection, like #EEE, can be made quickly? Is this possible/happening?

EEE progresses quickly- would this even be a plausible option with encephalitis?
I wouldn’t consider EEE a very good candidate for this type of therapy - probably much too far along when symptoms start and difficult/impossible to get the mAbs to where they’re needed. Many other viruses where it could be beneficial though...

That’s what I was thinking. Not sure how EEE works, but for WNV, by the time neurological symptoms show up, the virus is mostly cleared from the blood. mAbs would be too late.

Yeah, agreed. A vaccine would theoretically work but with so few cases, this is surely below the threshold for benefit/(risk+cost).

I think passive immunization for prophylaxis in exposed/vulnerable populations could be quite viable. A single 100mg IM dose could provide protection for a few months. At $100/g cost of goods, we are talking $10-20 per dose. Could easily administer to thousands of ppl.
