Yep, I agree. Stuff like SFTS seems to be following the "let's name it for what it does, not after the village we found it in"
It is a good rationale, but SFTSV has been formally renamed as Huaiyangshan banyangvirus (it’s hard to let go though, took me long enough to memorise that acronym!)
