Not just San Diego - we get rattlesnake and mountain lion warnings pretty much every year ...
although you know Coloradoans just wrestle those mountain lions, so I'm more worried about the snakes ...

I guess I have to declare defeat here, as it IS apparently true that Coloradoans wrestle mountain lions - if only young ones... If we see a snake or mount lion we just call someone and go surf until the danger is over.

Also mountain lions. Years ago, someone found a deer carcass in a tree down by what's now Vertex. Although with all the development in Sorrento Valley since then they might have left.

hehehehehe... i'm super cautious while hiking kate sessions with my dogs nowadays. a fellow hiker told me that he and his friend killed 3 of them last year
