I learned a new word today - "Academe". And apparently I am a member. Which means I shouldn't be on social media; because it is beneath me, and we - the members of Academe - cannot have plebeians soil our scholarly work.

Unbelievable. That paragraph - and the rest of the article - is some of the worst and most arrogant academic grandstanding I have ever read. My arrogant response back to him - "you just don't get it, Sir, do you?". What a nutter.

aka "Old school PIs". Same race that say it doesn't get into politics because it could affect their funding without realizing that not getting into politics is what will do it. On the bright side, old school age and the telomerase doesn't distinguish Academe's from "plebeians".
