Not sure I follow...as scientists we may follow our feelings, but if facts prove those wrong, we should/must displace them (as scientists). Is the statement about the mechanism of “displacement “?

Try telling a story that makes people feel something, rather than giving them straight facts.

Unfortunately, I think there is much evidence around the world that facts are being displaced by feelings/beliefs. It may be the 21st century’s biggest challenge.

I think we all need more context to understand this. I would say that, depending on the context, facts should displace feelings. Especially fear... Otherwise, people will be manipulated.

"should" isn't how people work though. Im unfamiliar with this speaker, but in therapy this is a well known truth. There're techniques where you deal with irrational feelings (I'm worthless, everyone will leave me, etc.) by acknowledging and engaging with them.

People mostly put feelings ahead of facts. To persuade them to change their behaviour you need to reach their emotions.
