I just picked up copies of my old university transcripts. I had a 69 in Intro Microbiology and 66 in Molecular Genetics but still somehow managed to help invent microbial genomic epidemiology

I was the only one to flunk English in high school (in my entire year) and didn't know what a cell was (or DNA/RNA for that matter) when I started university. Still a numpty, but there's a sliver of hope.

Between you and I now and @arambaut’s discussion of BEAST priors earlier today, this is really a revealing day for the giants of genomic epidemiology. @pathogenomenick your turn now.

Just know that when it comes to the viral Zombie apocalypse the world will all turn to us, since, obviously, we're the so called "experts". We can all sleep better now.

Hopefully it will be a fungal zombie apocalypse so we can reply ‘it’s outside my area of expertise’ and go back to looking for the chainsaw in the shed.
