My smartphone is dying and as usual finding a decent substitute is almost impossible. I would love a Fairphone 2 with BlackBerry OS and Iphone 5c formfactor. It seems like you can't even get 2 out of 3 -- always a deep privacy/sustainability tradeoff -- and why so big screens?
Take the plunge and buy one of the last iPhone SE. They’re great little phones and I plan to keep mine for the next ten years!
I fear that Apple's design for obsolescence will make older generations slow and unusable (as my iphone 5c is now) within a few years. Do you avoid updating iOS (or jailbreak) -- might take a look :)
With iOS12 my SE is now faster than the day I bought it (three years ago). Plus the OS is so feature complete by now that there’s no need to keep updating... I absolutely hate what apple is doing - new phones are crap, laptops are crap, it’s all crap. Until I tried Windows10..
