The GA has continued to do everything in their power to ensure our teachers, the people who are preparing the future leaders of the world, have the retirement they deserve. They are trying to save the pension system because they respect and appreciate teacher's commitment to KY.
What about public education funding? We’re hearing funding to local districts will decrease, can you speak on that?
How will the "unfunded liability," the pension system for current teachers, retired (+future retired) teachers be sustained with no new teachers contributing to it?
By simply finding funding for the current plan there wasn’t any reason to destroy the lives and hopes of future teachers
And we’ve said repeatedly that fully funding the ARC is appreciated, but none of the budgets we’ve seen from the Governor, House, or Senate so far plan to fund TRS at 100% for the 19-20 biennium. This seems to contradict your decision to keep current teacher pensions in tact.
I thought you guys said the system was broken?? Why would you find it? Isn’t that wasteful? Oh wait, it’s not broken? So why make a change?? Could it be to benefit others? Give me a break.
