    The Key West Police Department is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink badges and pink patches. The patches are available for $10 each, either on eBay or contact mhaley@cityofkeywest-fl,gov. All of the proceeds go to Zonta to help people struggling with cancer

    Key West Police Officer Brian Leahy was part of the crew who, last weekend, rode bikes 100 miles to benefit the MARC House in the reMARCable Tour de Keys. Together, they raised over $28,000 for MARC. This is Officer Leahy’s third MARC ride.

    Thank you, Chantelle Van Staden for the stuffed toys. Our officers carry them in the car in case they run across little ones who need hugs. Officer Santiago Perez was the first to pick up some toys.

    Key West Police Chief Sean Brandenburg was on scene with Poinciana 5th graders during their monthly Pelican and Police. The students were learning about traffic enforcement.

    KWPDthe department is selling special edition Key West Police Department Breast Cancer Awareness Patches to raise money for our local community of those battling breast cancer. All proceeds of the KWPD patch sells go to Zonta Patches are $10. Contact mhaley@cityofkeywest-fl.gov.

    The Key West Police Department was happy to host a field trip for the Grace Lutheran Schools first and second graders. They got to see the station and learn about dispatch. Then they met our motorcycle unit. And -- always the favorite -- the met Lou and Onyx, our mounted unit.

    Beginning on Sept 29 traffic on Bertha St will be outbound only. Motorists are able to head to the airport and other locations on So. Roosevelt from Bertha. However, heading inbound to Key West from any location along So Roosevelt must use either Flagler Ave. or No. Roosevelt

    The KWPD Mounted Unit is going to have some happy horses in the next few days; the new stable is ready for occupancy! After a delay due to baby birds, turf is being installed at the ballfield at Truman Waterfront Park, and the entire project is nearing completion.

    The 400 block of Whitehead Street will be closed from Monday, August 23rd, until Thursday, September 23rd, from 8am to 5:30pm.  Detour to Duval Street will be via Fleming and Eaton Streets.
