I find the ethical question about training data really interesting. You have a copyright to your code, writing, content, etc. But can someone else train a ML model off of it? Training doesn't violate a copyright since they aren't reproducing or distributing it.
Re: Copilot, let's talk in a way that acknowledges the AI concerns, licensing realities, open source shenanigans, big tech's involvement, *and* the evolving abstraction beyond "start by building the computer from scratch!" expectations. We're putting a lot on "good/bad" again.

I think the ethics there lies more in the "is this a good training model and how far from reality do we remove ourselves by learning from this example?" And aligning purpose, too. Plus, intention doesn't always guarantee the expected impact. Hence Black Mirror lol.
