    Also, why does the FONT get credit on the (C) page but no one person in editorial or production? Are fonts better negotiators for acknowledgement than we are?!

    It's always FASCINATING to me when authors write multipage acknowledgments thanking everyone from the coffee shop baristas where they wrote the book to their favorite bands, but not their copy editor or production team.

    Refusal by to change things not only inconveniences us but also may whitewash or Americanize names. Ellis Island all over again. New arrival states her family name. Information-taker says, "Nobody can pronounce that," & records what they think name should be.

    How long must ppl w/ punctuation or diacritics in their surnames wait for English-speaking to make forms that cope? Ppl around world do NOT all have family names like Smith.

    Turns out that the renumbering problem wasn't my fault. Author had deleted 2 refs during review (otherwise, I renumbered correctly), & Word decided not to correctly show that I deleted those 2 refs.
