    Main problem with ECT is-it's so hard to get! Too few providers, so many restrictions (bc of negative movie portrayals). I've had many calls from people bc ECT was recommended for a family member and they're horrified. I tell them it would be my 1st choice for if I were sick.

    Electroconvulsive therapy isn't done in a dark side-room of the hospital with a patient strapped down and screaming. ECT is performed on informed, consenting adults who undergo brief anesthesia with a muscle paralytic for safety during the treatment. It literally saved my life.
