    My parents only ever had our nuclear family for Thanksgiving, so when one of my friends was estranged from her family, it was a really big deal for them to have a guest. Septic tank broke, no running water, couldn’t flush toilets, ate off paper plates. No fix. Just laughed. 🤷‍♀️

    My co-pay to see a specialist is $40, so it's easily $80 before I've even had tests or prescriptions, just to find a doctor who doesn't say, "Oh that's really common for women," as if we've constructed an entire gender around pain we don't think is worth addressing.

    Not only is a healthcare access issue, it is also a financial one because many people will try out multiple doctors until they’re believed. That costs money.

    People dump cats near my parents a lot (farm country), & my mom has taken in multiple cats she's found hit by cars (& paid a lot of vet bills). This guy she found dragging two broken back legs across her yard. He now lives indoors & loves houseguest laps.

    By relying on employers to provide insurance, I’ve had my insurer change in August only to find out in October that it’s changing again in December. But who doesn’t love scrambling every few months to figure out how many of their current doctors are in their new network

    That's why things like Medicare for All and universal college access are so important. It's not JUST a fairer way to pay for those things. It also helps end the moral tyranny of not being able to stand up for what's right without losing those things

    A group of 18yos could show up in regular clothes & tell me they were a musical group, or they were themselves from last year, or they were dressed as one another, I just don’t care. I’d give them all the candy. And yet grown adults went out of their way to legislate this.

    This obsession w getting to say “I will raise taxes” to do Medicare for All instead of “overall health care costs will go down on the middle class” is silly. If my taxes go up some & my health care costs go down more, the thing I care abt is the TOTAL MONEY IN MY POCKET.

    My partner's employer changed our insurer in August. Then they got acquired by another company last week, so our insurer is about to change *again.* We'll have 3 different insurance-providers in the span of 4 or 5 months because of reliance on employer-provided insurance.

    every time i hear people like Klobuchar and Buttigieg talk about insurance like we'll all cry about losing it i feel like i'm going crazy. literally nobody likes their insurance company. insurance companies suck and shouldn't exist.
