Cassandrafreude (n). the bitter pleasure of things going wrong in exactly the way you predicted, but no one believed you when it could have made a difference. I've finally discovered the word that describes how nearly every climate scientist feels, h/t @fretmistress.

And there is probably a sizeable number of infectious disease experts and public health professionals who feel the same way.

Love it! Sadly, the deniers will use this to say one is hoping for disaster.

👆Attn: @RobGMacfarlane😰 I'm sure the sentiment is shared among scientists in many disciplines--those who study zoonotic disease and pandemics now alongside climate scientists. Hopefully we--humanity--will become wiser.

Regrettably, hope is just a wish without a plan. I don't anticipate that our shared humanity will get us through tougher to times to come. Wisdom arrives only after one hits rock bottom.

Pretty much describes anyone in a scientific or technical position who reports to people lacking the education or experience to comprehend the severity and potential consequences of what they're being warned about.
