As a
let me hasten to clarify that I'm not advocating for removing maple syrup production but rather for co-production of energy on land that is also used for farming or pollinator ecosystems
For example, @FreshEnergy runs this amazing clearinghouse:https://fresh-energy.org/beeslovesolar/

And here in West Texas, wind energy is typically located on private land that is simultaneously used for cotton farming or ranching.pic.twitter.com/oOqcjuByT8

I mean both the US and Canada have strategic maple syrup reserves so it seems like we could do the same.

*I* have strategic maple syrup reserves. But only 4 1L bottles. Maybe I need more ...pic.twitter.com/YF5uATPoGl

i did a very sketchy, back of the envelope calculation a while ago and found that the golf land equivalence holds in
#australia too. -
So the answer is clear - wind turbines on every golf course in the nation.
They can have solar on all the buildings & above the carparks as well
Not sure if all the members will go with the whole idea though I think it is a fair way to solve the green problem

There are many crops (eg: ginseng) that could thrive in a shaded environment with lots of ambient heat. Tucked under solar panels.
-
Yeah, the land use "issue" is a canard brought up by ignorant people. Kind of irritating after all the rebuttals over the years.

I also published the math on how much land it would take to power the US entirely with solar. It's here, with references:https://rameznaam.com/2015/04/08/how-much-land-would-it-take-to-power-the-us-via-solar/ …

FANTASTIC - thank you for sharing (with references!)
