The closest experience I have for people using something I built was researching/writing/producing various types of reports or analysis for state and federal governments on health care. But these reports are somewhat static compared to software.

Software is moving, it evolves. It kind of has a life of its own. And it's fun to watch that product come to life... slowly but surely. (I've got a fun mental model of products as ideas that we, humans, are "birthing" into the world, more on this at some point).

I suppose the biggest difference between my past work in health consulting and product dev/design is the interactivity of the product. With health consulting, people would interact with me as the author because the products were inert.

With software, people interact directly with the product (in addition to the makers). One of the super cool things about building a thinking tool is people are sharing their thoughts on the tool - directly in the tool. A very nice way to capture and share honest feedback.

All this to say: more product design thinking forthcoming. This is new to me, and special thanks to
@davegorum for dealing with me as a product design apprentice - I'm full of really good 1st order ideas!
