    Thanks to for hosting my meeting w/ Commissioner . Excellent discussion on the importance of the rule of law for economic performance & development, and further enhancing the well-established avenues for IMF-EU collaboration in this area.

    Fruitfull meeting with Kristina Georgieva, Managing Director of International Monetary Fund, on how to work together in making the case for the economic benefits of justice reforms. I also welcomed the involvement of in governance issues.

    Our new global data on tells different stories for different countries. Everyone has work to do, but with 60% of low-income countries at risk or already in debt distress, 2022 will be a critical year for these vulnerable countries.

    Public debt rose 19 percentage points of GDP in 2020, an increase similar to the one seen over 2 years during the global financial crisis. Read more in

    My visit to was a marvelous opportunity to learn about research to produce batteries from biomass like peanut husks. Innovations like this will help make the post-Covid economy greener. In a nutshell, the future is in our hands!
