Bottom line is folk need to stop giving the GOP the benefit of doubt that its been waging a determined race/culture war in this country for decades. The GOP itself has proudly embraced this legacy and uses it every single chance it gets. Believe them the umpteenth time FFS.

In wedding itself to Trump, the GOP officially abandoned all pretense of not being the party of racism. Faced w/a growing non-White population/electorate they took drastic measures and revealed their true political motivations in order to salvage every White vote they could.

Because we aren’t capable of having an honest, unapologetic and sustained national conversation about the historical dangers of White supremacy and White Nationalism in this country, the radicalization of White voters precedes unchecked. This disaster was centuries in the making.

Also while so many American White people smugly dismiss the reality of their and the GOP’s racism out of hand, Putin and every other outside agitator now know FULL WELL how best to manipulate the White American voter and the entire US government as a result.

And don’t think for one second that this ploy to ignite the rage and resentment of Caucasian people stops at America’s shores, Brexit happened because of racist xenophobia and fear of a Black/Brown planet too. This is a global phenomenon.

In the era of increasing economic globalization, skin privilege is no longer the automatic lifestyle security blanket it’s always been for these people and their response to this reality is reinvigorating rampant racism and xenophobia to reassert themselves on top. Rinse, repeat.
