Like the majority of Americans, I have an immediate family member locked up behind bars. My dad is in prison & at the age of 75, he is high risk for the virus. If we forget about incarcerated people we’ll lose to the virus and we’ll lose ourselves.https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-local-correspondents/chesa-boudin-on-his-incarcerated-father-and-the-threat-of-the-coronavirus-in-prisons …

Replying to @chesaboudin @TommyStark
That article cites this study https://everysecond.fwd.us/downloads/EverySecond.fwd.us.pdf … and the study claims it's one-third of Americans (and less than one-half of US adults).pic.twitter.com/fKYcE9a8lm

What a relief! Only nearly half of people have had an incarcerated family member, not a full half. Thank you for clarifying that critical point!

You're welcome. Because facts. And tbc, it's almost half of adults. Also, those stats include people arrested and held overnight, they include people arrested for DUI, and they include Lindsey Lohan who was incarcerated for shoplifting from 8PM one night to 3AM the next morning.
