In January, the Federal Subsistence Board will determine whether the thresholds have been met. If so, the board will direct staff to start a 2-year process to analyze the proposal. The Federal Subsistence Board's final decision on the KIC proposal would occur in early 2025.
The RAC agreed with the Office of Subsistence Management staff analysis that the proposal met the four thresholds required to proceed for further study.

The Canvass Board today finished its count of questioned, absentee and special need ballots, for the Ketchikan Gateway Borough municipal election. Among the results, Borough Mayor Rodney Dial has won reelection; Borough Prop. 2 failed.

The Alaska Earthquake Center is reporting that a quake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.1 occurred at 9:57 p.m. Sunday about 47 miles southeast of Ketchikan and 37 miles east-southeast of Metlakatla.

With questioned ballots still being counted, the Canvass Board has updated the Ketchikan Gateway Borough municipal election results to include today's tallies of absentee and special needs ballots.
With today's tally of absentee, questioned and special needs ballots complete, the City of Ketchikan's unofficial final results show incumbents Mark Flora (769 votes) and Lallette Kistler (610 votes) retaining 3-year seats, and Jack Finnegan (819 votes) winning the 1-year seat.

Here are the latest and last unofficial results from today's Ketchikan Gateway Borough Municipal Election. There remain absentee, questioned and special needs ballots to be reviewed by the Canvass Board.
There are 255 absentee ballots, three special needs ballots and 35 questioned ballots from precincts outside of the City of Ketchikan and City of Saxman that remain to be reviewed by the Canvass Board.
The unofficial results for all precincts outside of the City of Ketchikan have been reported.
The unofficial vote on Ketchikan Gateway Borough Proposition 2 (Nonareawide library power) is 692 yes votes to 851 no votes.

Ketchikan School District Business Manager Katie Jo Parrott on Friday resigned her position with district, effective in 30 days. Parrott is the sole candidate challenging incumbent Rodney Dial in the Ketchikan Gateway Borough mayor's race.
Friday is looking to be a break day for rains over much of SE AK. The weekend rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are expected over the southren panhandle. In the longer range, more rain for the panhandle, mainly the southern portion is possible for the start of next week. #akws

The Ketchikan City Council has voted 6-1 to select Delilah Walsh as the new city manager/KPU general manager, and to start negotiations for employment ‘terms and conditions acceptable to the council.’
Walsh now is utilities director for the City of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
