Philly is wrong on both counts. The reconciliation is necessary and it does not conflict with state law. Why can't they just do the right thing and err on the side of caution to not count duplicate ballots?

Philly is scaling back the poll book reconciliation process it used to catch any double votes before they were counted. Officials said it’s no longer necessary and conflicts with new state law requiring uninterrupted vote count. Our election live blog: inquirer.com/politics/live/

That's just not true. If you read the King's Bench petition you would have seen that the date on the envelope was responsible for catching a fraudulent mail ballot in the last primary. abc27.com/local-news/lan

And it’s a date on the envelope, not the ballot, which most election officials say is irrelevant. What matters is the date your ballot ARRIVES at election office or is POSTMARKED. Requiring a date on the envelope is a meaningless obstacle for legitimate voters. twitter.com/jackiekcalmes/…

Philly doesn't really seem to care that half of the state has little confidence in how they run elections. Whether it's keeping poll watchers so far away from the ballot counting that they need binoculars to see or insisting on counting unlawful ballots, it doesn't matter. 3/

Philly has erected a strawman, saying it will lose state funding for elections if they continue the process but that doesn't even pass the giggle test. Philly can do the reconciliation and comply with the law that requires canvassing "without interruption" to get funding. 2/

Philadelphia can do the right thing today and vote to continue a process that will catch double votes for voters who returned a ballot and still show up on election day to vote. Don't count on it though. 1/

The @GOP, @NRCC, & @PAGOP just secured a MASSIVE election integrity win in Pennsylvania. The PA Supreme Court agrees with us that incorrectly or undated mail ballots can not be counted in next week’s elections. Republicans went to court. Now Democrats have to follow the law.

My client has already sued Philadelphia and will seek emergency relief to force Philadelphia to engage in the checks required to prevent duplicate voting. 1/

Philly elections officials are voting tomorrow on whether to scale back a process that helps catch any double votes before they get counted. Expect them to vote to scale back, citing GOP rules on new state funding. More in our 2022 election live blog: inquirer.com/politics/elect

How interesting of them to do.

The Democratic majority NC Supreme Court sped up cases this year on voter ID, redistricting, school funding and other political topics. That ensured the cases were heard before the election, when Republicans might re-take control of the court #ncpol #ncga newsobserver.com/news/politics-

RITE, a GOP election law organization created this year by Karl Rove, Bill Barr, and others, is suing Philly elections officials. They want Philly to keep its current poll book reconciliation process that can help catch double votes. (The city currently will likely scale back.)

By taking up the issue of ballots without dated envelopes, the #Pennsylvania Supreme Court may end up settling the issue---at least for now in PA. The U.S. Supreme Court vacated a lower court ruling that the ballots should be counted w/o weighing in on the merits of the case.

This is a big win for election transparency in NJ. Importantly, the records the requested would have allowed us to reach out to voters who needed to cure their ballots. This ruling will make it easier to do so in the future. 1/2

The @GOP just won a New Jersey election integrity lawsuit. In July, we sued the Mercer County Board of Elections for refusing to release election administration records as required by law. We took them to court. We're getting the records and transparency voters deserve.

Great spin from Hobbs here. It's almost as if she didn't make a mistake and should be commended that she "found" an error in a database that she is supposed to make sure works properly in the first place. You also have the classic bureaucratic blaming of an inanimate object. 1/2

Voters in AZ were accidentally sent federal-only ballots. Appears to have happened to less than about 10,000.

Finally, the risk of counting duplicate ballots should be a non-issue if Philadelphia follows the law and trains its poll workers to require provisional voting for voters who have already requested a mail ballot and show up on Election Day. 5/

Philly claims that Act 88 prevents it from engaging in a process to ensure that no mail ballots are counted for voters who also appear to vote on Election Day. This is a stunt and it's verification process during canvassing is entirely consistent with Act 88's requirements. 4/

Act 88 provides elections funding for counties with strings attached. One of those is that counties canvass mail ballots "without interruption" until all ballots are counted. This is a sensible requirement aimed at getting election results earlier. 3/

Philadelphia is playing games by pointing to a new law passed by the General Assembly as an excuse to stop necessary checks to prevent the counting of duplicate votes. 1/

Philly has a process for catching double votes to ensure people only vote once. But it looks like it’ll have to remove or significantly scale back that procedure. Why? To comply with rules Republicans placed on new “election integrity grants.” inquirer.com/politics/elect

The extreme legislation the D.C. Council is expected to pass tomorrow will allow all noncitizens to vote in local elections, even if they're here illegally. Even the migrants sent here on buses from AZ & TX could vote. This cheapens citizenship.
