A rural Oklahoma hospital raised hundreds of thousands of dollars on GoFundMe in an attempt to stay open but it wasn't enough. It closed Friday and will remain closed unless a charity hands it $5 million. Employees didn't even receive their final paycheck.

NEW: In a rare rebuke of Warren, says, "Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong." The tribe, whose chief is a Democrat, usually avoids the topic.

I did not wake up today expecting Trump supporters to find themselves in sudden agreement with the Cherokee Nation. But that's 2018 for you. The Cherokees have been so hesitant to wade into this debate, making this rebuke noteworthy for that reason alone.

It's worth noting how unusual this is for the Cherokee Nation. While some Cherokees have criticized Warren, the tribe rarely comments on the controversy. Its chief is a Democrat and Oklahoma tribal members have criticized Trump for his "Pocahontas" slur.

Cherokee secretary of state on Warren's DNA test: "It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven."

For readers, there's a lot here. Health care, immigration, Social Security and...Saul Alinsky, somehow. “We have to start by eliminating the private prison industry...It is immoral, it is unethical and it is a waste of taxpayer dollars."

The day after Rep. Steve Russell skipped a forum, his campaign says it was hosted by an "activist group with an agenda" that "is linked to a radical leftist, Alinskyite group in Chicago."

At a forum meant for two but attended by one, Democrat called for an end to private prisons, vowed to protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and committed to voting for a clean Dream Act if elected to Congress.

Markwayne Mullin, one of just two Native Americans in Congress, says Carpenter v. Murphy, the Creek reservation case, could open a "huge" Pandora's Box. “...we’re going to have to take that up as legislators."

Russell was booed when an emcee announced he wouldn’t attend. They left an empty chair with his name on it at the front of the room. It was clearly a left-leaning room and would have been a tough crowd, had he showed up. This was the group’s “scorecard” at the end.

Horn has made health care — along with education — a top issue, but tends to stop short of single-payer. “The ACA brought us a lot of benefits that we desperately needed but it’s not an end-all, be-all. We all still have a lot of work to do.”

Horn’s remarks came during a forum hosted by VOICE, the nonprofit coalition. Rep. Russell did not attend. On every issue, organizers wrote “ABSENT” under Russell on their scorecard.
