Do you know if brine is ever used in Virginia? I have a friend who got incredibly sick when the county started storing snow removal supplies/salt behind her house...

Not that I am aware of. Thing to do would be figure out what agency runs that storage yard, probably county, state, or a local one, then email them directly and ask what sort of products they are using and where they come from.

So I did the math and the result seems to conflict with your article. The waste water is 3.8 times more dangerous than eating bananas (per weight), and a flight from LA to NY is the equivalent of drinking 6.5 beer kegs of the brine. Feel free to correct me if my math is off.pic.twitter.com/B94bkSLGGP

I can send you papers if you want more

Thank you for sharing, excellent investigation. If fracking industry has this socio-environmental description in the US, just imagine here in South America.

Yes, I am in the process of creating a document that will let people all over the world know where and how to look for the oil and gas industry's radioactive waste, DM or email me if you would like to receive

But...rollingstone magazine? Why?

Thanks for the comment
@SilveryCurls,@RollingStone has covered the environment well for many years, and continue to publish bold and complicated investigations on novel oil and gas related issues. Unfortunately, not enough newspapers or magazines doing that these days. - Još 1 odgovor

This is a very important investigation Justin. I applaud you. It begs questions not just of the brine and the workers handling it, but also regarding spills and contamination throughout the process, and then about the associated crude and workers/consumers throughout the cycle.

It's not just pipeline leaks, climate-devastating emissions, toxic exhaust, & so much waste pumped out as plastic to overwhelm oceans, land, food supplies & blood streams...radioactivity is *literally* the objection paraded around for why nuclear isn't a viable alternative.
