Dead Cells as well. Very excited to play this tonight, but the "rest mode" solution is trash. Hopefully they can find a solution soon.

Yeah I love Dead Cells and I quit mid-run all the time. That save system is great. Returnal really needs something similar. I don't see any way I can play it currently.

Do you think Housemarque could patch in saving runs? Or would that change the game too much?

I'm not a coder so I dont know how challenging it would be from a developer standpoint. From the perspective of the player, I dont think it would compromise any of Returnal's systems if they added a save room though.

It should probably work like Dark Souls, where it feels brutal when you die because you might have to go back pretty far (in this case, the beginning of the game), but you can quit at any time and the most recent autosave is always only seconds before you quit

Not that I agree with the design, but I feel they don't have mid-run save points to avoid save scumming. The benefit of stopping and resuming, because you need a break, would allow people to upload their saves to the cloud, re-download and resume in case of death.

Sure, I get that. I think there's a sacrifice made there though. You gain an honestness about people's ability to beat the game, but you sacrifice being able to walk away and force the player to commit to 2-3 hour play sessions at a time (or risk losing it all to rest mode)
