Updated Mortal Kombat 11 thoughts! Overall I had a blast and I’m consistently amazed at how much Netherrealm is willing to take risks in dramatically changing up its fighting mechanics from game to game.

It’s completely rewriting the rules of Kombat (heyyyyy). Two meters governing offensive and defensive options, a devastating super move that is guaranteed to be a threat when the opponent is at 30% health, a slow and methodical pace. It feels SO different from previous games.

My concern is that it was already hard to pick up new characters in MK games because of how arbitrary the combo inputs are, and now there’s even more moves, customizable variations, and unique inputs just to enhance a special move. It’s a little overwhelming to even think about
