Consider a leader acting only in his own self-interest, to fill his pockets and the limitless void of his own ego. His power to act in his own self-interest is essentially limitless. Therefore the only limit to what he might do is a list of what might conceivably benefit him.

Sell state secrets to a foreign power? Absolutely. Give them away for flattery? Yes. Sell our army? He's bragged of doing it. Cheat? Yes. Lie? Yes. Kill? Yes. Easily. What else? He'd bomb Toledo if he thought he could get away with it, if he thought there was a buck in it.

Anyway Republicans in the Senate don't want to see evidence or hear witnesses about the few things we actually know; they just want to contemptuously flaunt their boredom with the very notion of checking his power on the way to rubber stamping his impunity. That's what they are.

He called for an uprising to overturn the 2012 election when Obama soundly beat Romney. I don't know what makes anybody think he won't call for one if he's the one who loses—an unacceptable blow to his self-interest and his ego.

We wouldn't know about it at all, and the news would be full of "BIDEN INVESTIGATION" headlines. And he's definitely going to do it again.https://twitter.com/MisterRora/status/1221417507556352001?s=20 …

It's important to elect Democrats in the 2020 elections, but I think that's the wrong way of thinking of it. It's much important to punish Republicans than to elect Democrats. The lesson of the Republicans' path HAS to be "if you do this, it is the end of your organization."

Democrats—with all their flaws—will be the necessary beneficiaries. We'll have to address those flaws after—which means we'd better choose the least flawed Democrats we can. But 2020 needs to be absolutely permanently devastating for Republicans at every level of government.

And so does 2022. And so does 2024. And so does 2028. Let the Democratic Party split into the relatively sane conservative and leftist parties they already are. But first the Republican Party has to be electorally demolished.

They don't have to be demolished because the Democrats are so wonderful. They have to be demolished because they've set themselves on a course where either they are demolished as a party, or else we are are a country. I choose them. Punish Republicans in 2020.

It's not to do with revenge or retribution. It's about delivering an absolutely crucial corrective to authoritarian and kleptocratic impulses that have always been an dangerous part of our national character, a dangerous part of human nature. Punish Republicans in 2020.

We can't make the course Republicans have set an acceptable one. It has to be a course that results in disaster for those who would pursue it. It HAS to be, or else it will be a course that ends in disaster for everyone else. Those are the choices. Punish Republicans in 2020.

What the GOP has chosen to become can only serve the interests of our shared humanity as an historical object lesson, a warning for any future organizations that might be tempted to follow their course. It's our job to make them into that warning. Punish Republicans in 2020.

And I know I have been clear, but just to make it crystal: I mean electorally. I mean peacefully. It's not to do with retribution or revenge. With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as best as we can know right: Punish Republicans in 2020.

This was what he was a year ago, and what he was a year before that, and what he is now: an open crook. They don’t even want to see witnesses, though witnesses exist. They’re a criminal organization.
