There was more measles in the world in 2000. Why wasn't there more measles in the US back then? We were near historic lows...

It’s clearly a complex picture and highly connected community vulnerability plays a role. But there’s also a lot of people advancing single cause assumption which is not true.

Refreshing indeed! Great article, but will people believe it? Some days it seems that anti-antivax rhetoric is as evidence-resistant as antivax arguments.

Hmmm what’s going on with that ~6% of Venezuelans?: ‘Ninety-three percent agree that “vaccines are safe” while 99 percent agree that vaccines are important for children.’

Suggests that most support vaccination but some respondents may not want to be too categorical, knowing vaccines do carry some small risks. Also always a small % against vaccination. Maybe here it’s 1%.

It’s not necessarily that it is growing. But antivaxxers are concentrated in small areas. Hence the most measles cases in 20 years, with kids in the hospital and icu.

Respectfully disagree. I'm all 4 evid based discussion abt antivax impact-IMO related but separate emp q from AV GROWTH-but piece not helpful. Like his prior piece a few mos. back, loose w/stats, strawmen, & wrapped in Slate's "go for counterpt as clickbait" style. @tarahaelle
