I’m a paraprofessional licensed by my state. If I lose my license I can’t work somewhere else as a paraprofessional. Why shouldn’t police have the same standards?

Many professions require background checks. Hell, many students require background checks! Why not a person given a gun and other weapons and the authority to use them.

Every Police Department in the US is required to run background checks, but not one single state, county or municipality in the US w/ any laws preventing departments from hiring officers with histories of abuse. Police know that they are hiring officers w/ history...
