People who don’t get the idea of Climate Change, given all the evidence, forget that the mechanism (carbon-based molecules prevent the escape of infra-red heat) has been known since 1856: over 170 years

A third of Pakistan is under water. The melt of the Greenland ice sheet is ‘now inevitable’. Victoria is being told to prepare for fires and floods at the same time. The climate crisis is here. We cannot open new coal and gas.

The only thing stopping the repeal of the Stage 3 tax cuts is the ALP. It’s now clear that if Labor would get on board the numbers are there in the Senate to legislate a repeal. We should scrap this $240 billion obscenity and instead build a better, fairer society.

Uber sent me an account earlier today, ostensibly for a ride in Melbourne, Vic, ustralia on Tuesday. BUT I didn't ride with #Uber on Tuesday. AND I was unable to reply to their email. So I tried to find an email address for them: nothing

What don’t they get about Climate Change?

BREAKING: The Labor government has just released 46,758 square kilometres of new ocean acreages for oil and gas exploration. Labor likes to talk big on climate, but when it really matters they’ll do exactly what their fossil fuel donors demand.

There's a growing sense Murdoch's lawsuit against Crikey could backfire if it probes Fox News' influence in the lead up to Jan 6. Its potential to generate ongoing unflattering headlines, at least in local independent media, could even pave the way for a Royal Commission. #auspol

Good on Crikey for challenging Lachlan Murdoch’s crazy attempts to stifle debate in Australia. Cross-examining him would be a delight and we’ll all read it with joy

I was invited to give a speech today at Monash to Amnesty supporters. But the person who invited me, “Gloria Stark” never told me which Monash campus; that made it very difficult to deliver the speech I prepared. In the end, I didn’t go. If any Amnesty fans missed out; I’m sorry

#Scomo is an unrepentant liar
Quote Tweet
Scott Morrison claiming he didn’t use his “extraordinary powers” is of course, a lie. He overruled Pitt, for purely political reasons, and he clearly had a hand in the “coincidental” Sri Lankan boat headed for Australia on Election Day. The man is an unrepentant liar.

Huge study. Worrying findings. We’re letting this rip and doing pretty much nothing about indoor air.

Behold, one of the feeblest yet most public attempts at DARVO ever. Scott playing the victim of a nation holding him—a prime minister—accountable, as justification for abusing his power, is peak gaslight. Not only is he in denial, he is attacking us, and claiming we are to blame.

Santos has recorded a 300% profit. That’s during an energy crisis, one that households are footing the bill for. Never believe them when they say we need more gas. We don’t. We need gas corporations to stop wrecking the planet and rorting the system for profit.

Scott Morrison has not explained the secrecy surrounding his power-grabs, or why he kept News Corp heavyweights informed, without extending the same courtesy to Australians, or even his ministry. It's raised concerns about the potential for foreign influence or blackmail. #auspol

Questions for #Scomo: 1. Did you or a staff member tell Greg Hunt you had been sworn as Health Minister? 2. If it was a staff member, did you (or anyone else) tell ANY staff not to disclose to anyone that you had been sworn into other ministries

You hang around politics for 30 years + & you think you’ve seen it all (or a fair bit of it anyway 👀) & then you find the prime minister had 5 secret portfolios that not even his colleagues knew about, 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️ & you go 😲 🤷🏻‍♀️🤯

Morrison is now claiming he seized these five ministries “in good faith” during the Covid outbreak. So why the secrecy ? He kept his own cabinet in the dark, let alone the Australian people. He is a disgrace, a liar, a menace to democracy. He must go. Now.
