I have mixed feelings about that Atlantic piece...

P.S. this passage made me cringe. yes, I'm sure Bou thinks they're nice, b/c HE'S NOT A F-ING TRANS PERSON! if he was, they'd be doxxing him, & publicly speculating about his genitals, & accusing him of being a pervert or rapist, & penning fake posts in his name, & threatening topic.twitter.com/2hSoZ0fV4D

morning thoughts: I woke up thinking about that awful Michelle Goldberg piece from 2014 (this description is from Mari Brighe; more about it: https://www.advocate.com/commentary/2014/08/05/op-ed-open-letter-new-yorker …). The Atlantic article is not nearly as bad as that, but it suffers from similar framing...pic.twitter.com/rFgsRe6lov

...it humanizes TERF position (we spend most of article w/Fain) whereas trans perspectives are disembodied (w/exception of Lavery, who has more of a side role). narrative journalism is insidious; it tends to make its protagonists sympathetic, even when they're bad or wrong.

It sucks so much reading people's analysis from last year, noting TERFs as a movement in decline They aren't any more. Now they're on a seemingly inexorable rise because they've been revived by a cash injection
