Policy decisions drove the record number of child hospitalizations, and policies can reverse it.

Kids who were exposed can come back to school as long as they wear a mask for 14 days. No quarantine necessary.https://www.wral.com/55-covid-cases-tied-to-nc-charter-school-with-no-mask-mandate-quarantine/19816272/ …

Ooh that's much stricter than Texas, where they don't have to wear a mask (or quarantine - and indeed the schools don't even have to inform parents of exposure anyhow).

12-17 yr olds qualify for a vaccine; parents and kids who want to go back to in person school and play sports or do clubs should talk; fall without a vaccine will be tough for schools

Unfortunately the safety profile has not been well established in that age range. I am all for vaccinating my kids (who are under 12), but it has to be done carefully. Their immune systems are different, it’s not as simple as dosing down by weight.

Is there any further breakdown of that 0-17 range? Always struck me as a really big range when you consider the developmental differences between like a 3 year old and a teen.

And between a fragile newborn and a 3 year old!
