Re open lines such as the GCR Manchester to London More open lines = more trains= less over crowding Scrap HS2 use the money to up date conventional railways. Nationalise.
-
Tickets...all at one rate per mile Monday to Friday cheaper weekend returns. All charge same rate. STOP first class.......one class, one fare one railway.

A revised strategy that puts the customer first, largely through automation.
-
1. 'Driverless' trains 2. GPS rather than outdated green and red signals 3. Paperless tickets 4. Max numbers on trains enforced by an automated counting system 5. Replace buffet with vending machines and useful seating space 6. Automated announcer

Don’t operate them for profit. Operate them for the people.

Rather than spending £bns on HS2, to save a few minutes on a journey most people will never make, invest some of that money in new lines and increased capacity across the country. Over £1bn already spent on HS2 without a foot of track being laid.

Hand them over to Japan for a nominal pound and let it do what it likes. Time to admit we can't do this, get over it and move on.
-
Omg imagine if the Japanese took over our rail network. Awesomeness. We’d be able to travel from Brighton to Edinburgh in a couple of hours.
-
Japan was destroyed in the war. They built their bullet train network from scratch. We don't have that advantage
-
Getting a bit late for excuses like that.
-
I'm just saying, you can't compare
-
Huh what kind of shit excuse is that. Hilarious
Japan is earthquake capital of the world, they have to constantly rebuild. Omg honestly

Turn franchises into Mutuals owned by passengers. Like building societies of old. Nationalisation not the solution
-
But they are already run by nationalised companies, just foreign ones.
