People are fat because they eat and drink tons of rubbish. It has nothing to do with wealth; eating healthily is cheaper.

Eating “less” is cheaper!

No but some people are poor because they are fat. In the case of women flocking to find help from my charity @Lipoedema UK, through no fault of their own, because they face workplace discrimination. So how about we kick ‘em financially when they’re already down, eh?

Take a look at
@asda and see how much a wonky vegetable or apple bag costs. Clearly yet another tory who doesn't even know how much milk costs. -
I work in Asda, and are one of those damned Tories. So here's those 'excessive' prices: 2kg of Tomatoes costs about 70p Onions are 50p for 3 Peppers are a quid for 3 Mushrooms are a quid for 250g Lettuce is a quid for two. The idea veg is excessively pricey is well, a myth.
-
Tomatoes don't cost £1 for 2kg! Even when they come into season are never that low. Unsure about nutrition of onions. I've been buying those quid packs of lettuce and barely does 4 portions. The cheapest aroundpic.twitter.com/abDko06HvC
-
200g, my bad
2000 grams of tomatoes would be a wee crazy, given that they'd go off before even getting near a fraction of them. -
Plus if they come from Holland taste of nothing and have little nutritional value. British are best with the limited season, followed by Spanish and Italy if you have a higher budget. People are struggling to top up their exorbitant prepay energy meters, meanwhile.

I'd send someone to scrutinise budgets & food purchases
actually I'd send my sister, queen of budgeting, NOT WASTING food & eating healthily. I'd love to see someone on TV actually asking about people's budgets, rather than just accepting "I can't afford fresh food".Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

The IEA? Lol. In any case it is both cultural as well as economic, and moreover geographic as shops selling healthy food are not found in deprived areas.

Its assumptions are flawed because it relies on a fantasy world where ppl can compare food on the same basis. E.g. fruit and veg is often priced by weight, when did you last buy a pizza priced by weight? Like most garbage coming out of the IEA its based on a right wing fantasy

Maybe being poor makes you more vulnerable to depression and comfort eating - so please less of the " fat " talk
