Indeed but humans (especially little ones) are most influence or conditioned by intermittent reinforcement - so in our houses it may work - but long term life choices can be made outside in the rest of their world . . . hence The desirability of effective public health policy

Let’s be honest - half of the women in the country who have kids are in that position because they couldn’t say no in the first place. (After studies show over 40% of births are accidental pregnancies)

Spent my life doing voluntary work with other people's kids. I am amazed how many parents have no clue about being in charge They claim ADHD etch when I found the kids Just needed boundaries Our house was always full of kids doing what they were told It was fun for all of us

People find the notion of NO as threatening. Saying no means you are on your own... Well that's life... init?

My 4yr old son asked for an apple straight after a big dinner tonight. 3 times we said no and eventually he forgot all about it.

Probably because 'No' infringes their children's rights and the parents have to be liked right? It is the responsibility of parents and adult guardians to regulate (control?) what their charges eat NOT the state. It is irresponsible to take the easy route and give in.

Shock horror. Parents with low self control to say “no” find it hard to instil self control into their children to not ask. Maybe twe aching kids self discipline in school would be good but they stopped that years ago as well.
