There is no good logical or moral argument that opposes expanding grammar schools that doesn’t also support the closing down of all the 163 existing grammars.

If grammar schools are no good How come so many MPs went to them? Then again......
-
Not about them being no good . Those MPs want a good education for everyone not just for themselves and their families They want to bring the standard up for all schools to the level of education they were lucky to have at grammar..
-
We’ve had comp schools for decades. Roughly how long do you think it will take for the standard to go up to an acceptable level?
-
When we stop allowing private schools to be charities, spending more on grammars, subsidising so called free schools, allowing so called academies & actually spend money on community run smaller genuine comps instead of treating them as production lines for needs of business.

Yes, yes, yes! And close down private schools too. And allocate state schools purely randomly not on house price as well (I mean, I don't support any of that myself but that is the logical extension of opposing grammars).
-
I, myself. Simply oppose, grammar. And speling.

Grammar schools offer a fantastic opportunity, especially if they’re from a poor background. Removing them removes said opportunity. It’s like when Margaret Thatcher said that they’d “would rather have the poor poorer provided the rich were less rich”, but with education instead

Because they have kids at them? Do as I say not as I do with most MPs.
-
They like them for themselves and their own children. Not a fan for other people's.

What angers me is anyone who opposes free selective education in the state sector and then uses their wealth to pay for a selective education for their child in the independent sector

Where would they send their children if they did that? It's just our kids they don't want going there Julia.

And for that matter how many send their kids to grammar or fee paying schools. Or went to them themselves.
