Labour win 60 seats, Cons lose 30. A draw, according to BBC. This despite UKippers shifting to Tories.

The Lib Dem’s took more seats off the Tories than Labour. 28 seats in Richmond council alone just about covers the 31 net loss the Tories suffered. Labour made no real impact at these elections.

One has to go back to 1987 to see how unimportant Local elections really are. - Why? Well the year before and four years previously, the Tories first lost 160 council seats and then in 86 a staggering 900 council seats - Remind me again who won the the 1987 election.. -
-
By rights it should have been a Labour landslide, and that is probably what the "experts" would have been predicting had the Tories wiped out Labour today or vice versa, but they would be wrong. Local elections results cannot be simulated into an outcome of a General Election.

Couldn’t agree more. Plenty don’t turn out for local elections who turnout for GE.

I think what we're seeing here is the death of socialism. The fact is the Tories are in power solely on the basis that there is no viable opposition. People simply just don't believe what they see in the media and are fed up with Corbyn's mouthy mobsters....

I have always been intrigued why those achieving modest victory when presented clear fields are accorded praise, while those reducing defeat against the odds still fare poorly.

It's not a stalemate, save in the sense of switcheroo. -Labour has consolidated its vote and chewed a little bit into Toryland, remembering that Tories lost 300 seats in 2014. Lib Dems are bouncing back, and many Tories are sitting in marginals. If I were a Tory, I'd be worried.
