It's ironic, isn't it, that calling a woman a "thick Oxford twat" is the very definition of How Not To Be A Boy 🤔@JuliaHB1pic.twitter.com/QGX7NVRPPO

And if I spoke to a women this way in public, I'd be absolutely terrified - not of snide tweets, but of my mum giving me a thick ear the next time she saw me for being a sexist shit

Is it really sexism? Just because he's calling out a woman? Calling someone a "thick twat" is not sexism. It's you who made this about @JuliaHB1 gender, it was a total non-issue before.

Roughly speaking, I'd say it's this: it isn't sexist when a liberal/Left-leaning individual does it towards somebody from the other end of the spectrum. But it always is the other way round. You're welcome

I disagree, everyone on the political spectrum has, at some point, and rightly or wrongly, called someone a thick twat. Had he called her a "little woman" I think there's an issue. Thick twat is just an insult, and I'd think the same if a right-winger had said it.

Disagree. Observe the almost entirely celebratory way this has been reported by Independent, etc. It's seen as virtuous to attack those on the right

That may or may not be true, I can’t say I’ve seen it anywhere but twitter, but that doesn’t change the fact that it just isn’t sexism. The insult isn’t rooted in her gender. Can’t we just insult men and women equally if we feel like it?

It wouldn't be homophobic to disagree with a gay person. But it would be to use a homophobic word to them. Which brings us to "twat". Is it sexist? Ofcom think it's dodgy. Take-away message: don't call women twats. You're welcome https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/watch-47-swear-words-ofcoms-5956 …pic.twitter.com/BXsmlvjW4u

As much as I appreciate Martin’s kind words, I didn’t actually view it as sexist myself. However, if a right wing man had tweeted exactly the same words to a left wing woman, the same people openly applauding Webb for abusing me would be outraged. Double standards.

Fair play, but if a right winger had called someone a twat, I doubt you’d have bat an eyelid. I also doubt you’re that offended, so isn’t this an example of exactly what you’re saying the left do? IMO, both do it, depends entirely on which paper they write for 🤷🏻‍♀️
