So why haven’t they applied for British Citizenship to establish their status?
-
Many countries do not allow dual nationality; thousands of people are denied even access to Permanent Residency, a prerequisite to citizenship, if they are ex. stay at home wives of British husbands; citizenship is circa £1500 and not everyone can afford it. Should I carry on?

I don't know how
@AmberRuddHR keeps a straight face listening to@HackneyAbbott's absolute waffle and constantly trying to score cheap points.#LabourFail#CorbynOut -
Waffle ? We’re talking about British citizens here racially discriminated by your evil nasty party - Rudd needs to go, and to go this afternoon, and take the rest of these charlatans with her
-
The hostile approach to immigrants was first suggested by
@UKLabour.@AmberRuddHR making the right decisions and sorting this situation for the#WindrushGeneration.@HackneyAbbott ONLY interested in political point scoring, nothing more. -
It’s very difficult for an opposition spokeswoman in our democracy to do anything other than score points - that’s what an opposition have to do, they are not in power - your party is and that is a disaster for all minoritys, disabled and poor alike.

Mate, they've started to pay people in turnips in Venezuela.
@jeremycorbyn would annihilate our nation beyond recognition, spend everyone's money, drive away businesses and tax working people to their absolute limits. There would be no money at all for any services.#LabourFail -
What’s that then Lee, a fact or an opinion? How about the opinion that Corbyn will make the UK fairer, more equal, with rights for disabled and minorities, people paying their fair share of tax with workers rights protected, free of tuition fees and an NHS free of Tory damage
-
The government doesn’t deserve any credit for the handling of Windrush, because the whole thing’s been shameful. But the contrast between May’s action over the past week, and Corbyn’s non-action over Labour anti-Semitism, is stark.
-
Agreed. Fault was acknowledged, unconditional apologies given, and practical steps to remedy immediately enacted. Corbyn didn't even say sorry. I don't think anyone disagrees with the idea of a fairer society; the reality is though that Corbyn's policies wouldn't achieve it.

The EU citizens issue is wholly different from Windrush as they are here because of other instances. The granting of automatic citizenship to the EU nationals has major political impacts and requires a different approach.
