Maybe it's that horrible lefty and Labour 'types' are put off by someone who's regularly callous and snobbish, who'd concurrently vaunt themselves as 'clever'?
Modesty and/or grace isn't your strong point, is it Julia?

They seem less put off by their genuinely privileged Labour leadership and the Labour MPs who celebrate comps and then quietly send their own kids to academically selective schools... weird, huh?

Lots of people get into Oxford or Cambridge because like you, they're clever. But, the problem is, many more get in even when they're not.
-
I would say the vast majority of people I met at uni were clever. The few who weren’t clever were at least well educated. The real problem is all the clever working class kids who never even apply and should be there.
-
I agree with you, most of the people I know who went there are clever but there's a world of difference between clever and well educated. Money and privilidge can buy you "Well educated" but all the money in the world can't buy you "Clever".

Did you take part in any of the port and Nazi song nights they’re so fond of over there ?pic.twitter.com/jH6doWhgrt

Wasn't your father a GP? That would have definitely have put him in the top 5% of earners.
-
Correction: it seems both your parents were doctors when you were growing up - that puts you certainly in the top 1%. What was your household income growing up? Would be ~£150,000 today...
-
My father isn’t a doctor. My mother was a medical student through much of my childhood. They don’t earn too much, you’ll find. Never claimed we were poor but I wasn’t privileged. Just an ordinary middle class girl at a comp, like millions of others.
-
The average family doesn't earn too much I think you'll find. Especially in comparison to a GP and - I assume - another professional paying higher rate income tax. Top 10%? Top 5%? What's your definition of privileged?

They think you are saying your are morally superior (I believe) (which you are not saying.) They just can’t handle the fact it is 1) extreme competitive entry 2) mostly on merit (although I’m not a fan of the interview....)
-
I believe you,
@LPerrins, could have typed “saying [you] are morally” instead. ‘Your’ is a possessive determiner; ‘you’ is a pronoun. -
Or maybe it was a typing slip?
