Hey, if it was up to me, western democracies would be tackling these atrocities in ALL countries. The UN is a waste of time.
Bombs kill children. You are advocating for Killing children. If we stopped funding ISIS backed groups there would be no civil war in Syria. General Mattis says the only evidence for a chemical attack is on social media. Why are the politician class so out of touch?
Correct. 53 approx Islamic countries. Let them sort it out. We make things ten times worse. This could be the start of a nuclear war. Mrs May stay away
There's another question, posed aptly by Simon Jenkins: is an attack effective? Or is it just for reasons of feeling pleased with ourselves?
It depends what you hope the attack will achieve
True. The only real test is the outcome but I would choose the best course of action based on what I hoped to achieve. Bit strange to do it the other way round, surely?
I don't need to throw petrol on a fire to know it won't put it out.
That’s not how targeted strikes work mate, think setting fire to the planes that drop chemical weapons in children so they can’t do that anymore.
You have no idea what that tweet was about do you? Whatever we do in this area makes things worse and everyone ends up hating/blaming us. Hosing a few kids down proves nothing. We're been played and not convincingly.
Oh no, wouldn’t want people not to like us! Let’s go back to watching RT!
1. We have no evidence that Assad committed the attack. It makes no tactical sense for him to do so, leading to many skeptics. 2. Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya. Ring a bell? Those wars worked out great, didn't they? Our 'intervention' into these countries only made them worse.
3. Let's not pretend this is anything but an attempt at forced Regime change, which once again, studying recent history shows it has failed every time we tried it (see: Hussein and Gaddafi etc.). Shakespeare wrote 'Julius Caesar' to illustrate this exact point.
It's interesting that in your eyes, the people who DON'T want another war to start, which will inevitably lead to the deaths of countless numbers of innocent people and soldiers based on very dubious 'evidence' are the ones who have their morals out of order.
And it’s not contemptible to call someone that? Have an opinion by all means, but nothing excuses that.
No, I’m saying it too. Do one, Simon.
