Saw a parishioner just out of hospital. There he talked to a staff nurse with fifteen years experience, a single mum of two, full time on nights, who depends on food banks to feed her family. FOOD BANKS.

@RevRichardColes If a nurse earning c£30k a year has to rely on a foodbank to feed her kids, how do all the millions of other families on the same or lower incomes manage to make ends meet, which they clearly do?

That aside, why is a Reverand speaking ill of people helping others that are in need? You'd have thought he'd promote that spirit of giving and caring, not shout it down. Very odd situation.

I read this, and I genuinely feel sorry for the kids, but this is a result of parents who don't give a shit about their kids, not a fault of government. There's *no* excuse for not being able to spend £3 a day to make nutritious food for a child. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-43611527 …

In this case, the parent, if they gave two shits, *could* have accessed a food bank in order to ensure their kids didn't go hungry. They evidently haven't done that, so what does that tell you about the parents? I'd move heaven and earth to make sure my kids didn't go hungry.

Or maybe, people feel so ashamed needing to access a food bank, precisely because of the stigma that it's received by people like you.
