Young people work far more than we did Julia. Even at University when they;re meant to be studying they all can't afford to and are working in bars and cafes. It is so boring when older people look at the young and call them lazy. The generation above me said same....zzz
-
No one even mentioned that.
-
Its inherent in the idea. Get younguns working on saturdays to save Brexit? Its like the ideas section in Viz.

I said 'even' the kids who are studying. The rest are working too. This i the Brexit plan? Pull kids out of school to pick the fruit? HAHAHA

Brexit take your head out of your arse. Not everything is brexit. I had a weekend job and brexit wasn't even on the cards.

Saturday jobs rocked. Asides from keeping you out of trouble, they taught you to understand and respect money, interact with colleagues and customers and to generally develop a sense of responsibility. My paper round at the age of 12 was what got me bitten by the work bug.

I delivered papers twice a day Monday to Saturday, and once on a Sunday (when I had to make 2 trips because all the Lefties read the
@observer which was thick with nonsense).. -
ohhh i remember those days well , morning papers before school, then straight to shop after school for the local paper then sundays was a nightmare haha, but we didnt have a lot of money so only way to earn pocket money was delivering the papers
-
From delivering papers, i went on to 'marking up'.. as i was approached leaving school, the newsagents i worked for offered to train me to eventually become a manager. I already had a placd with the
@RoyalNavy so turned them down Experience & a job offer.. works for me -
yeah i was waiting to go into the army straight from school as it was all i ever wanted to do but ended up in trouble so had to wait till till i was 20 to join, to me work gives ya self esteem no better feeling knowing you earned what you have

At 15, I worked on a knicker stall on the market. I thoroughly enjoyed it & was proud to be earning my own money.

At 15 I worked in children's department of OwenOwen on a Saturday. Had to get the walk about 30 mins and then get the tube. Loved having my own money and the job. Just realised not been out of work for over 40 years! Why aren't I rich

-
Me too. Good question. Still have to wait until 67 for pension. Something isn't right!!
