I think what he's really saying is I'm sorry I got caught, and will really miss the million dollar appearance fee from the Indian league (radio 4 this morning) and all the promotional freebies.

I simply don’t see the point of winning by cheating, where’s the glory in that?

You don't understand, No! He's not upset because he got caught, he's upset that he did it, that he's devastated millions of fans the world over, that he's let Cricket down. You have no idea! Don't get involved in this one, you're out of your depth

Would it matter if it had happened more than once?
-
Yes, if done in the same way. All cricketers shine & rough up the ball, the umpires will tell them to stop if they do it too much but it's part of the game. This is purposely bringing a foreign object on to the filed of play to tamper. Very different!
-
Foreign object. Please define your view on those. What would be acceptable and what wouldn’t in your rules?
-
If you knew about Cricket you wouldn't be asking me these questions. Go & read up on this & you'll understand. I don't have the time to explain. I'm not a novice at cricket, so please don't waste my time. Thanks

-
Any other points about cricket or the rules you’d like to discuss?
-
in too, I can't stand the arrogance of the Aussie team in the last few years. Sledging, bad feeling, condescending and patronising to everyone, it seems. I'm not at all out of my depth, thanks anyway, I just don't have the time right now to explain all you have asked! Cheers

-
All down to towering arrogance. But sad nonetheless!

Any athlete caught using even the mildest of banned substances says exactly the same thing. It’s a cynical and self serving decision to win at any cost, either to him or the junior players who were no doubt pressured into it. Maybe it’s the norm and that’s why he is so shocked.

People can make mistakes and this was a terrible one! However he has learnt the hard way. He will benefit from his experience. I suggest it will never happen again and that there is a time for forgiveness. He is a great supporter of Cricket and Australia!!

Yes watched the interview and specifically noted how upset he got when speaking about his parents. I am sure they didn't bring him up to cheat and must be very disasppointed in him.

Never known so many fellow Australians to be so pure as have been displayed this week. I know there have been times in my 60 years I have made mistakes. Don’t know how you have never
-
Spot on. He is not a criminal, he showed lack of judgment. He’s also not the first to be caught ball-tampering is he?
#Atherton, the legend#Tendulkar, Waqar#Younis, Shoaib#Akhtar, The entire#Pakistan team was penalized for ball tampering during one test match against England! -
Haha, this lack of judgement BS is rolled out every time a man shows a lack of moral compass. It's a choice not a mistake.
-
A mistaken choice.
-
No, a choice. They decided not to listen to their better judgement. That's the epitome of psychopathy which also impacts the way they choose to treat people with a lack of empathy, it's all connected. Once ppl go down that path they rarely come back because of all the "mistakes".
-
#Weinstein is one such example. -
A long history of abusive predatory behaviour leveraging power over vulnerable people is a world away from someone who “just wants to bat” wrongly turning a blind eye to one corrupt act in a sporting game. He was not sufficiently experienced for the captaincy, no help from VC.
-
Nope, it comes from the same place, and 'sledging', or trashing, is a way of covering this up and saying 'you're just weak mate'. Sorry but I'm quite an expert regarding this issue.
