Oh dear, someone doesn’t understand the difference between the EU and Europe, does he? Just because we don’t want to be ruled by Brussels, that doesn’t mean we stop being military allies of our European neighbours. It really isn’t complicated, @Femi_Sorryhttps://twitter.com/femi_sorry/status/978208770789691392 …

Gosh, I thought someone like you would understand by now, outside single market the UK is OBLIGED under WTO most-favoured nation rules to have controls at all border crossings. It's not a matter of up to EU/ROI. You really should do some research

-
And it's offering them. It's intending to use technology for this. But by the way, WTO have a new amendment called the trade facilitation agreement, that means goods can be cleared at point of destination, not point of arrival.
-
The U.K. govt has offered nothing but fantasy on this front. Physical infrastructure is, sorry to say, unavoidable. Anyone who tells you otherwise is living in a dream world.
-
Perhaps, but not to degree where it becomes a problem. The eu already run electronic transfer of goods, as do lots of other nations. WTO are actively working towards developing this, so it's the future anyway. So for some to suggest it's impossible,e, they're ones in a fantasy.
-
...electronic transfer of goods within the customs union...which we’re leaving, which means we’ll be obliged to check country of origin etc.
-
It is also done for goods originating from outside of the EU now with all sorts of systems including the authorised economic operation. Everything is being geared towards electronic monitoring of goods.

You've heard of
#WTO, right? WTO rules require a border between different customs arrangements. As we're leaving EU's CU, we're de facto putting ourselves in a different customs arrangement. Both UK & EU have a responsibility to have a border. P'raps you'd like to leave WTO now? Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Oh dear, someone doesn't understand the difference between the single market and WTO rules. If fall on WTO rules without a border, then the UK will become comedy gold internationally. It really isn't complicated,

The main premise for Brexit was the ability to control our borders. Now you want our only land border with the EU wide open. This doesn't make any sense.

Why do you keep coming out with this palpable rubbish, Julia? This argument has been made, repeatedly, and shown to be nonsense. WTO requires checks and tarriffs in the absence of agreements. You're lying to people to push your failed agenda.
