Oh dear, someone doesn’t understand the difference between the EU and Europe, does he? Just because we don’t want to be ruled by Brussels, that doesn’t mean we stop being military allies of our European neighbours. It really isn’t complicated, @Femi_Sorryhttps://twitter.com/femi_sorry/status/978208770789691392 …

So we have King Brexiter Farage telling us to leave the EU because it keeps positioning itself against Russia. And we have Queen Brexiter JHB telling us that we're more willing to position ourselves against Russia than any other EU country. Anyone dizzy?

Of course, actually it *is* complicated. If we stop co-operating legislatively and economically with the leading economies in Europe, geographically closest to us, then we find it harder to participate in joint defence initiatives. https://www.ft.com/content/80dd2f68-3031-11e8-b5bf-23cb17fd1498 …

No we don’t. Our biggest military ally is the US and, last time I looked, they weren’t in the EU.

"Yes we do", and the article in my tweet demonstrates that. At least from your reply we can see that any idea that Brexit was about regaining 'sovereignty' is a joke; you would rather we depend on access to GPS (as in this example) , than develop our own capability.

All European countries West of the River Dnieper (apart from Belarus) are either: a) an EU Country; b) an EEA Country in EU SM; c) in Schengen and other EU institutions (CH); d) an applicant country; or e) very small. UK only country seeking worse relationship than any of these.

And it's nonsense that Brussels "rules" us, unless you care far more about who sets rules on oven glove safety, rather than who sets university fees, decides how healthcare is funded and delivered, how taxes are levied or how 40% of our GDP is spent.

do you have passport checks on your wall, how do you charge tariffs and run customs checks when things cross your wall? I'm sure @DExEUgov would love to hear about your amazing innovations! They've been trying to come up with something for nearly 2 years

Gosh, I thought someone like you would understand by now, outside single market the UK is OBLIGED under WTO most-favoured nation rules to have controls at all border crossings. It's not a matter of up to EU/ROI. You really should do some research 😊

And it's offering them. It's intending to use technology for this. But by the way, WTO have a new amendment called the trade facilitation agreement, that means goods can be cleared at point of destination, not point of arrival.

Perhaps, but not to degree where it becomes a problem. The eu already run electronic transfer of goods, as do lots of other nations. WTO are actively working towards developing this, so it's the future anyway. So for some to suggest it's impossible,e, they're ones in a fantasy.
