It's basic TV/film economics that the actor with the most credentials and thus the bigger draw for the audience as a whole will be better positioned to negotiate a higher salary based on track record. That is what you should not dismiss.

Hahahaha - what without Claire Foy you are telling me the producers could not have found another actress to fill the role. Literally the only reason Season 1 of The Crown got made was because Claire Foy was cast. She's good, but not that good.

Maybe all the actors should be paid the same as the crew - now that would be equality in action!

They should all be paid the same as the cleaners. Get on board for the journey to the new socialist utopia.

Socialist Utopia! Tell me more, is this like China, Russia or Venezuela or is it like Heaven where you have to die first? -

Michael Keaton played the title role in Tim Burton's Batman, but Jack Nicholson got first billing and paid more.

Perhaps he also has a better agent and had a much bigger profile when he signed to play the role ...

Exactly. Still don’t get why star salaries are covered as though they are a measure of social justice. It’s about recognition and agent leverage. Next

Agree - when Julia Roberts or Jennifer Lawrence or Kate Blanchett are being paid bucketloads while their male leads get a % of their pay - is that as story?!!
