Well, one answer may be that I’d heard of Matt Smith and I hadn’t heard of Claire Foy. Another might be that she was willing to accept a lower fee than he was? Just possibilities.

Why have so few men played the role of Cinderella? The people have a right to know.

I have next to no interest in actors. She most certainly wasn’t a household name - as Matt Smith was - before The Crown.

Worth considering that for Notting Hill, Hugh Grant was paid $7.5 million and Julia Roberts was paid $15 million. His role was bigger, but she was a much bigger star at the time and her name above the title was seen as having a much greater impact on the film's success.

You may be right, but, normally a household name actor will get payed more than an unknown. Market value.

I’m not sure you understand the entertainment industry or what market value is. I agree with equal pay when there is equal status but that’s not the reason why people go see films or watch tv shows. I hope it changes.

If you hadn't heard of her that's not an argument; just a revelation of how little you know about acting talent.

Maybe for Series One. But Two? Who got all the awards and plaudits? They did it because pay is secret and they could get away with it.
