It’s very simple. Anyone who dials 999 because they can’t buy fried chicken is guilty of the crime of wasting police time. Prosecute these idiots. 'Don't call police over KFC crisis'http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-43140836 …

If you look outside Chicken shops, the people hanging around outside them are usually the sort of youths you would actually be calling the police about.

Having worked for many years in a police call management centre, this is just one example of the idiotic calls received via the 999 system ......

Same people who present to A & E when a Pharmacy could give them the what they need; its lack of knowledge or attentiveness to acceptable practice.

Disagree. They're definitely remainers. They'll also be lefties, ironically moaning about police cuts and underfunding. Deffo socislists

Disagree. Brexit voters have a lower IQ. Lefties like me are usually vegetarian\vegan because it’s the better thing to do. And besides funding the Police services properly is a good thing. Likewise funding the NHS and taking care of your health.

You’re the exception that proves the rule then. How do you know my stereotype isn’t right? Statistically I suspect I’m right. Apparently I’m a traitor for being a Remainer.

Suggestion for 999 operators: Listen to their fast food (or other frivolous) complaint. Ask them for their phone number, and address. Tell them it will be looked into. Report them to the authorities.

No they can see who's calling by using the number. Most will probs be using mobile phones

Chris - Right, but the caller would need to admit it or there would be no prosecution. Evidence required. Repeated calls from the same number would be easier to prove.

999s are recorded, but only record what a caller says. eg - I use Joe Bloggs' phone and tell them I was Joe Bloggs. If Joe Bloggs was later quizzed, he'd say "It wasn't me that used the phone" The onus is NOT on Joe Bloggs to prove innocence. Onus is on Police to PROVE the case.
