When your country angrily votes Brexit so it can trade more with China, but Germany already does six times more trade with China than we do.. When your country angrily votes Brexit because of a housing shortage, but it's us, we don't build any houses..https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/pub-stabbing-incident-turns-out-1229574 …

So do you have an example of what is possible? To contextualise
@bengoldacre's EU example and offer concrete grounds for post Brexit optimism on the China free trade deal front? -
So that’ll be “no” then
-
Concrete and practical examples is where the Brexit advocates tend to go a bit quiet, sadly.
-
She’s right we do trade different things eg we export Minis they export BMWs, we export trains and planes Germany planes and trains, again very different.
-
The trains and minis are all made in the UK for German companies.....

We just want free trade. Forget the trade deals. They are protectionist anyway, same as EU.
-
This kind of simplistic message helps Brexit sound superficially attractive to many, but it won't help deliver actual policies or results.
-
If you say so!

But if Germany trades just fine with China without a free trade deal, why does the UK need one.
-
According to
@JuliaHB1, because the UK and Germany have different exports. While that is true, I'd like to learn how and why leaving the EU will help UK exports to China.

Oh lol. Free trade deal with China? You honestly think that is likely, including financial services? Wake up Julia.
-
China ain’t particularly interested in our service industries.

Cars Julia, we both export cars. Nothing different about that. Being in the EU isn’t holding Germany back from trading with China. They’ve simply got good products.

Interestingly none of these countries have said they want to increase trade with us when we leave the EU. China didn't comment (which is their general policy with all countries) and US, Japan & India all said we are a less attractive trading partner after Brexit
-
They are not opposed to a few new trade deals but they’ve made it clear a big part of our appeal for trade was our membership in the EU. It gives them access to a much bigger market.
